Keep in mind I'm going from memory, xfire is used to track game time, then rank the game for popularity based on the amount of people using the game and time spent playing it. Gives the comunity an idea of what popular right now and who is playing what. I think.

It's also an ingame IM program that lets you talk to people in GW, or other games. Really helpful IMO.

Just for fun

I used to use Xfire, when I played BF42, BF2, HL1 & HL2, but since I have become addicted to GW & GW doesn't support Insta-Join I no longer have a use for it.

Xfire name...

Dunno, maybe people should play what they want to play, instead of only what their friends are playing. Then only real useful aspect of it, is the communication provided outside of the games. Other first party designers have come up with better solutions within their own software to accomidate for such needs.

Xfire support keeping track total time played with a large number of games besides GW as well as IM. Link here - http://www.xfire.com/xf/modules.php?...ire&file=games including Wow, FFXI, RO, AC, etc.. as well as many non-mmorph games including System Shock 2, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and the newer stuff.

It is very neat to have it auto generate your sig and pull your real time stats. I use IM's sparingly so it does not have much interest to me.

I use it, but its not going to help guild wars..... I just do it to keep track of how long I play, so I make sure I'm not addicted

Xfire does not have much utility in Guild Wars compared to World of Warcraft where you can't whisper across servers/factions or a First Person Shooter/Real Time Strategy game where it actually makes joining servers with your friends more convenient.

So really the only use you'll get out of it is as an instant messanger that also lets you take place in an internet popularity contest. :P
